Chepa's Fresh Market Gets a Fresh Start

Ground Breaking Ceremony with the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and Merge Architectural Group

On November 7th, we broke ground on the latest project for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe: Chepa’s Fresh Market. This exciting milestone marks the beginning of a project that will expand access to fresh, healthy food while strengthening and supporting the local community.

Anticipated to open in December 2026, Chepa’s Bwa’amta A’ayuka’apo will introduce a one-of-a-kind market experience centered around connection, education, and culture. The market will feature a culinary classroom and a fully equipped commercial kitchen seamlessly integrated into the retail space, creating opportunities for hands-on learning and community engagement. Designed as more than just a place to shop, Chepa’s will serve as a vibrant hub where food, culture, and collaboration come together.

The groundbreaking celebration reflected that same spirit, with fresh produce and ingredients shared with attendees following the ceremony, giving community members a small taste of what’s to come.
