Project Engineer

Job description

Concord General Contracting, Inc. is celebrating 46 years of service in Arizona, with offices in both the Phoenix and Tucson areas. Throughout our history we have continued to expand our portfolio of work; as a commercial general contractor our key markets include education, municipal, federal government, and private development. While our firm continues to progress and evolve throughout the years, we never lose focus on our founding principle of integrity. We pride ourselves on building a solid foundation based around integrity, improvement, fun, trust, and staying connected. We are currently seeking a Project Engineer for our Mesa Office. This position will work closely with the project team; the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, and Project Coordinator.

Following are the job duties and responsibilities:

  • Review owner contract for job specific requirements
  • Assist in coordinating team kickoff and handoff meetings
  • Assist Project Coordinator in creating all job logs
  • Review and approve, with Project Manager, all submittals and shop drawings in a timely manner before delivering to architect
  • Assist in completing start-up check list and assign specific duties
  • Assist in creating schedule with Superintendent and perform regular reviews and update
  • Assist with the facilitation of owner/architect/Concord kickoff meeting
  • Assist Project Manager with running owner meetings, attend sub coordination meetings, and ensure safety meetings are being held and documented
  • Assist Project Coordinator and Superintendent in jobsite mobilization
  • Ensure that all permits are delivered to Superintendent for posting
  • Assist the Project Manager with the facilitation of pre-, mid-, and post-job reviews
  • Assist in coordinating jobsite advertising (banners, signs, etc.)
  • Inform Operations Manager of any Concord errors, omissions, or potential liability issues
  • Assist in obtaining letters of recommendation from owner and architect on each project
  • Assist other members of the project team as needed

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction; related bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A general knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Friendly disposition when working with employees, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ability to multi-task in a high driven environment
  • Ability to obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Integrity: Maintains normal standards of ethics, conduct, and organizational policies in job related activities

Superintendent

Job description

We are currently seeking experienced Superintendents. This position will work closely with the Operations project team. Following are the job duties and responsibilities:

Technical Work:

  • Assist PM/Estimating in subcontractor scope and contract reviews
  • Review owner contract with PM for site related provisions
  • Review overall budget with PM and Estimating
  • Perform pre-start site survey to identify and items of potential issue
  • Assist PM/Coordinator with jobsite mobilization
  • Ensure subs MSDS and safety manuals are on site
  • Post all federal required OSHA posters
  • Determine testing procedures and requirements
  • Review schedule and update with PM regularly
  • Prepare weekly three week look ahead schedule for clients and subcontractors
  • Hold weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and document for office
  • Send in meeting notes to coordinator for transcript and distribution
  • Walk jobsite regularly and maintain safety of all parties
  • Uphold subcontractors’ compliance and quality standards for work in place
  • Ensure weekly subcontractor toolbox meetings are turned in
  • Maintain as-builts in a monthly basis
  • Participate in pre-job, mid-job, and post-job evaluations and subcontractor evaluations
  • Take progress photos at least weekly
  • Ensure daily reports are completed in a timely manner with adequate information
  • Distribute information to jobsite foremen as required.
  • Write RFI’s and copy PM/Coordinator
  • Track items for back charges and relay to subcontractors/PM
  • Discuss unanticipated cost issues with PM
  • Follow appropriate steps in resolving issues (PM first)
  • Assist in site demobilization and report call off numbers to accounting
  • Assist in final as-built and file merges with office
  • Ensure punchlist and permit closeout completed within 30 days of substantial completion

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction required
  • General public speaking skills
  • A general knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook and Word
  • Friendly disposition when working with employees, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ability to multi-task in a high driven environment
  • Ability to obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Card
  • Driver’s License
  • Integrity: Maintains normal standards of ethics, conduct, and organizational policies in job related activities
